From Alexander’s Desk – 3/6/2022
Hello everyone. It’s been about a month since my last update and I don’t have a lot to show for it. I’m treating this writing update as a reset and pushing forward this week to get myself back on track.
The Renegade Ocarinist
In the past month I’ve added very little to my work in progress. I know I have plotted out a little more of the next scenes, and I’ve written a bit on it, but I don’t have a word count.
Related News
In related news, I think I’ve written another piece or two for my Ansparia-related side project. I’ve also started a draft of a new Lore piece about the Bards, but I’m not happy with some contradictions between different sections so I need to try to resolve that.
One thing that I’ve been making progress on is clearing out a place in Minecraft for a replica of the Musician’s Mall in Ithlear. I’ve finally found a landmass that can handle the size of it, so I’ve been removing mountains and filling in valleys. I could have either used a superflat world or even done it in creative but those are no fun for me, so I’m doing it in survival, using a Sunflower Field seed.
Unrelated News
In unrelated news, I’ve been redesigning my website and making it more SEO friendly. I think it’s looking much better and I’m so thankful for the help and feedback I’ve received. I’ve also finished reading a book called Creative Consistent Content by Lee Hall and in taking some advice from his book I’m going to have a section on my website for book reviews, with his being the first. Look for that in the coming days. Also I’d like to add a section where I provide a quote and then a couple paragraphs of exposition and analysis on the quote. This could range from serious and contemplative to silly and quirky. We’ll see how it goes. I’ll start with that this week.
I may also start a serial micro fiction series based in Ansparia. If so, that will likely be about 200 words/day. I’ll try to do one every day but I know there will be some days that I just won’t have the time. Hopefully, with it being such a small amount, those days will be rare. I also haven’t been on Twitter as much, but I’m currently at 292 followers. If I can get myself back on track I’ll resume building my relationships with my fellow Twitterites and growing my following.
This Week's Goals
My primary goal this week is to get myself back on track as an author. I’d love to write at least 1,000 words for The Renegade Ocarinist. I’d like to write at least one more piece for my side project. I want to get my first book review up on my website. I also want to get my website more uniform in colors/fonts/layouts. I’d like to start a serial micro fiction series and my quote/analysis this week, but those are secondary. I feel like I have a lot to accomplish this week, but I feel that each of those parts are small and thus attainable.
Until next week, stay safe and enjoy life!
