From Alexander’s Desk – 3/6/2022
Hello everyone. It’s been about a month since my last update and I don’t have a lot to show for it. I’m treating this writing update as a reset and pushing forward this week to get myself back on track. The Renegade Ocarinist In the past month I’ve added very little to my work in progress. I know I have plotted out a little more of the next scenes, and I’ve written a bit on it, but I don’t have a word count. Related News In related news, I think I’ve written another piece or two for my Ansparia-related side project. I’ve also started a draft of a new Lore…

From Alexander’s Desk – 2/5/2022
Man, oh man! It’s been two weeks since I have written an update but that’s because I was down with Covid-19. Fortunately it was just Omicron and the symptoms were mild and short-lived. That’s all behind me now and I’ve returned to work and to writing. The Renegade Ocarinist I only added 175 words to The Renegade Ocarinist this week. I had returned to work on Tuesday so missed out on Monday and had a hard time getting back into the swing of things. I did spend one of the days plotting out the next scene, since it was a different kind of event and includes a puzzle that Mia…

The Festival of Kinship
Every year Ansparia celebrates life and friendship during a special celebration known as the Festival of Kinship. It is a time when all the Civilized Races meet at one of three locations, one on each continent, for a two-week extravaganza of camaraderie, music, food, games, and shopping. There are special performances by acting troupes reenacting important moments of Ansparia’s history and during the Festival all discontent is put aside. Fights and wars pause, kindness prevails, and no one present is at a loss for anything. Three Locations It would be unfair for any one city to host the Festival, so three neutral locations were selected at the time the event…

From Alexander’s Desk – 1/22/2022
Happy Saturday, everyone, and with that comes my weekly writing update. I haven’t been sleeping as well on this third week of January so that has affected my morning output. However, my afternoons have picked up a bit from last week. With this upcoming week I’ll just try to press ahead and do a little better than before. The Renegade Ocarinist The Renegade Ocarinist was my strong point this week. I added 2966 words to the story, and am advancing the plot through the Musician’s Mall (have I mentioned I love this place?). Mia is struck with awe with sights from the mall, realizes some regrets of past actions, and…

Races in the World of Ansparia (part 2)
Welcome back, my friends. It has been another week and I’m sad to say that my research project has come to a temporary standstill. Weather has confiscated my ability to travel and I’ve been stuck in this village all week. Now, the people here are very kind, and have given me a warm welcome and a warm bed, but literature is not abundant here. What brought me here, you ask? I had hoped to interview one of the few remaining survivors of the Flamecrest, but alas he is surviving no longer. It appears he passed from this life about five years ago. The Uncivilized Races Thus, I’ve been pinned down…

Excerpt: Bard Tree from The Renegade Ocarinist (a clean fantasy adventure)
Hello everyone. After this I’m going to slow the excerpts down to 1 per month until I release The Renegade Ocarinist. Instead of an excerpt the other three weeks, I’ll do an additional lore post! Excerpt Mia smiled as her ghostly song sent the big hunter away. She wasn’t helpless by any means, and with these new abilities she could keep herself safe from anyone. She followed the three, hints of familiarity brushing her mind. She was feeling more at home with every step. That was it! They were going to the grove where she had learned the bardic magic. “But why are they going there?” she whispered to herself.…

Welcome back everybody. Today’s blog post will be a status update on my writing for the past week. This second week of 2022 saw a continuation of writing for me, although not as much as I had hoped. The daily habits I had started last week have all but fizzled out this week, but I haven’t given up on them. There is still lots of room for improvement, and hopefully this next week will be a return to the habits. The Renegade Ocarinist For The Renegade Ocarinist, I only added 1,098 words this week. I mean, at least it’s something, and it’s progress. But far less than I had planned…

Races in the World of Ansparia (part 1)
Welcome back, my friends. I hope life has treated you well since last we met. As for myself, I have traveled from one library to the next to collect research for a special project I’m working to create. I can’t wait to share it with you, but not until it is ready. Only the best for you, my friends! But today, I’d like to give you a brief overview of the races in Ansparia that make up the diverse beings known as: Mankind. The Civilized Races A large portion of Mankind is made up of several races that share a common theme. The civilized races are those who have the…

Excerpt: Leaving Inn of The Renegade Ocarinist (a clean fantasy adventure)
The three returned to the stables where the boys gathered their horses again and led them inside. Mia thought she heard one of them whimper in light protest but the horses followed their lead and went inside. “Our turn,” said Mum softly to Fat Will as they returned to the inn. The priest lightly whimpered and Mia wondered if he did so to copy the horse’s sentiments, or if perhaps he was the one she heard in the first place. Mia strode in first, went straight to the counter and banged her hand on it, causing papers and other random items to bounce. She glared at the seated innkeeper. “What…

Hello everybody. Today’s blog post will be a status update on my writing for the past week. This first week of 2022 saw a return to writing for me after being perpetually absent from it during the month of December. I have taken to a few new habits regarding my free time and it has been a good start. There is still room for improvement, and this next week will help me strengthen the habits that will bring about the world of Ansparia. The Renegade Ocarinist Regarding updates to The Renegade Ocarinist, I have resumed and added 2,179 words this week, which is far less than I’d like but it’s…
