Serial Micro Fiction: Zamy and Landric – Part 6
Landric woke slowly, feeling groggy from whatever had knocked him out. Even awake he could see nothing, but felt his body bouncing along. “Put me down!” he heard Zamy’s muffled voice call out. “Not until we reach our destination, miss,” returned a gruff, but not unkind, voice. They were being carried like two sacks of potatoes. Landric felt around. Burlap. Just like his mother used to transport potatoes home from the fields outside town. Landric began to wiggle violently in the sack, struggling to escape. A heavy weight was placed firmly atop him. “Oho! Best not be doing that lad,” a voice near his knees chuckled. “Yer risking taking a…

Serial Micro Fiction: Zamy and Landric – Part 5
The temperature in the tunnel was dropping and every so often a stale breeze rushed past them from deeper in the dark. It carried with it a stronger scent of oil mixed with a touch of sweat, and blended with an ample scent of rock dust. They listened closely, but still only silence greeted them. “Landric, did you hear that?” asked Zamy as they slowly continued in their blindness. He had not, being lost in his own world inside his head, a coping mechanism he sometimes used when he was feeling overwhelmed. If he could make his problems disappear from within, he could make them go away outside as well,…

From Alexander’s Desk – 4/17/2022
Good day to each of you, and I hope you’re doing well. I appreciate you taking the time to read about my weekly writing progress. I know some weeks have more progress than others and to be honest I’d love to make things more uniform and consistent. As it stands, there’s one thing I’ve learned from this past week and that is: Don’t Give Up! I could very easily say this is yet another week of failure as a writer, but that puts everything in a negative light. So my thought for this week is that although I may not have done as much as I would have liked, this…

From Alexander’s Desk – 4/11/2022
Hello everyone. Thank you for checking out this week’s writing update to see what I’ve been up to. I was hoping to get this update back on schedule on Saturday but life happens so I’ll try again next weekend. This week has brought about some successes and other missed marks. Let’s take a look, shall we? The Renegade Ocarinist This week I was successful in adding about 1300 words to my novel. That’s the good news. The bad news is I only wrote on two days. It still brought about a solid 1,000+ word day which I’m excited about because I know I can do it again. I also kind…

Serial Micro Fiction: Zamy and Landric – Part 4
The dark of the cave’s walls turned darker where the tunnel began, and the two children approached it side-by-side. The scarcity of light that filtered in from above did not travel far enough to reveal anything but the location of the tunnel. Beyond the threshold of the cave’s wall only silence and stillness waited for them. “Well, let’s do this, Zamy,” suggested Landric in a tone that she knew was meant to reassure himself. In the dark she reached for his hand, making a face no one could see when her hand smushed the fruit biscuit that he hadn’t yet finished. Their hands parted and brushed the sticky crumbs off…

From Alexander’s Desk – 4/3/2022
Hello everyone. These last few weeks have been up and down for writing. Work has been a bit busier and although there has been writing progress it has been a bit unstable. The Renegade Ocarinist I have written a little more of the next scenes in the story but not a lot, since I’m focusing on other related and non-related writing. Mia is safe, for the moment, but has a quest to attend to while continually expecting to be discovered. Related News The most noteworthy updates related to Ansparia are the serial micro fiction shorts I’ve begun writing. They follow the adventures of two Nom children in small, bite-sized portions…

Serial Micro Fiction: Zamy and Landric – Part 3
Zamy and Landric tried to look around at their surroundings but they were unable to see very far, as dark as it was. Zamy picked up the stick that her friend had dropped down and held it like a sword. She could feel Landric tremble a little and she knew he was wondering what he had gotten them into. “Like that’s gonna do much,” he mumbled. “What’s wrong Landric? We’re doing what you wanted to do. I thought you’d be excited. You sure were up there!” “I’m having second thoughts, okay? I didn’t know it would be so dark and we don’t have any torches. Let’s just go back. I…

Serial Micro Fiction: Zamy and Landric – Part 2
Landric took a few steps forward and was stopped by a tiny hand on his arm. “Landric, you stay away from that hole! It could be dangerous.” “Come on, Zamy. We’ll be careful. Aren’t you at all curious why it’s here?” “No, I’m not. It’s probably filled with wild animals who will tear us to bits as soon as we step inside.” “Oh Zamy, you’re being a scaredy-cat. That hole is way too big for some animals.” Somehow that logic made no sense to Zamy. She figured that the bigger the hole, the more ferocious animals could fit inside, or bigger animals. Her shoulders slumped as she tossed her head…

Serial Micro Fiction: Zamy and Landric – Part 1
“Landric, slow down,” huffed Zamy as she hurried after her friend. He didn’t slow, not exactly. “Where is it?” he mumbled to himself, his steps taking him along the perimeter of the clearing as his eyes darted to and fro, searching for something. “What are you looking for?” she called out. She had almost caught up to him. “Wait for me and I can help you find it.” Either he didn’t hear her or he was ignoring her. Both options were equally possible, thought Zamy. When he was focused on something his attention often couldn’t be pulled away, but there were times he didn’t want to be disturbed and paid…

Review: Consistent Creative Content
Today I will be reviewing Consistent Creative Content, by Lee Hall. I met Lee on Twitter and was impressed by his kind and respectful personality, as well as his obvious intellectual mindset. I purchased a copy of his book because I was interested in hearing how he built his own following, and was looking for ideas to extend my own reach. Here is my review. A personality-filled, informative read. In this book, Lee Hall shares his own experiences in building a following, with the intention of helping other authors develop a plan for success. His book includes action points to follow, his musings on various related topics, and step…
