Saint Patrick was the patron saint of leprechauns and gold. He is best known for playing a bagpipe and luring small children out of town to the edge of the rainbow where he makes them touch the green hue (which is where St. Patrick’s Day gets its color) and they would return to town with great riches and gold from the leprechaun’s realm. It is rumored that if you leave a potato out for St. Patrick the night before St. Patrick’s Day he will lure your children away to become wealthy. If a leprechaun catches one of the children and pinches them, the child will vaporize and reappear at home and can not obtain gold from the leprechaun’s realm until they are lured back next year.

She’s currently working on the cover for The Valceine Prophecy which should be done in the next week or two. I’ll reveal that cover early for my Kickstarter patrons and here a week later! For now, here’s the cover to The Path to Winter’s Bite, which will be rereleased this month with the updated cover, new edits, and for the first time as a paperback! After the next cover, my artist will be doing character art for Braelyn, Kryh, and Shiji! It will be on the website next month! Share any comments below!

Hello everyone! It’s Tuesday and a new week has (recently) begun. So much going on right now and I’ll start with a fun one – Today is my birthday! More than 27 years have passed since I spawned on this earth (okay, probably MANY more!) and I’m still pressing onward.

Kickstarter

The Kickstarter to raise money for some cover and character art is almost over! It ends Tuesday night at, I believe, 11:59pm Pacific time. If you read this before then, this is your last chance to make history! Well, Last chance in this particular way, but you don’t want to miss out! Signed paperbacks of the entire Child of Lies series are on the line here, depending on contribution level. Plus, BOOKMARKS! Whaat?!

New Ways to Reach Me!

I’ve finally climbed aboard the Linktree ship to provide an easy place to find all my links. Links to my website, social media, my books on Amazon, to buying me a coffee just because you like my writing and/or want to be nice.

I’ve also finally created a profile on Instagram and have joined the #authorsofinstagram force, go me!

The Valceine Prophecy

I’m making great progress on completing the second installment in the Child of Lies series, and am on schedule for an early March release! Once I have the cover art done I’ll give an exclusive early cover reveal to those who have contributed on my Kickstarter.

Remainder of the Child of Lies Series

So Path to Winter’s Bite will be re-released with its new cover as an ebook and released as a paperback! At this point Winter’s Bite will remain as-is, but I’d like to redo the cover and re-release it with new content some day. I’ve mentioned The Valceine Prophecy above. Book 3, Legacy of Valcea, will wrap up the series (?) in May!

Moving forward

The next few weeks will be filled with writing, editing, formatting, and providing my cover and character concepts to my artist to wrap this up! It’ll be busy, but well worth it!

Until next time, stay safe and enjoy life!

A lot has happened since my last update almost 6 months ago. I didn’t realize it has been that long and for that I apologize. Momentum is building, though, and things are about to happen lightning fast! Don’t blink or you may miss it! Websites The website I previously had for my Child of Lies series (written under the name Robert V Adkisson), expired and I renewed the domain for a year once it was available again (I didn’t want to spend an extra $75.00 to reactivate it so I had to wait). After purchasing the domain I came to the decision that I wanted all of my material on one website so I didn’t have to manage when this is expiring, when that one is, etc. So I’ve added a section to this website for Child of Lies. Child of Lies Child of Lies is a planned trilogy which begins with book 1: Winter’s Bite. I published this in 2016 and I’m happy with how it turned out, even though I know it’s not perfect. The Valceine Prophecy is book 2, and is almost complete, looking for a late February launch!! Almost equally as exciting is that the trilogy should finish up in May/June with book 3, The Legacy of Valcea. In addition to the trilogy I’ve got a book that leads up to the novels called The Path to Winter’s Bite. It’s 8 chapters of ancient history about the creation of the world, the gods, and magic. Following are 23 chapters of material that take place about 18 years before the novels and set up with the births and early childhood of Braelyn, Kryh, and Shiji, along with events surrounding the Four Mages. New Releases So I sort of touched on that last paragraph but not entirely. I’ve launched a Kickstarter to help fund artwork and in 4 days it was funded! I still need to wait for it to finish up on January 31 so there is still time to donate and press for those stretch goals! As of this moment, we’re $40 short of the first stretch goal of $600.00. With that said, this year I will be re-releasing The Path to Winter’s Bite as both a paperback and eBook (currently only eBook) with its new cover!! I’ll also be releasing The Valceine Prophecy and Legacy of Valcea as both paperback and eBook. And if I make my second stretch goal for my Kickstarter I’ll redo the cover for Winter’s Bite and release it with additional content later this year. That should (?) wrap up the Child of Lies series and free me up to continue writing for Ansparia. There will be more in-character poetry books coming later this year and maybe a few extra surprises as well! Currently Writing So at this time I’m working on finishing The Valceine Prophecy. After that I’ll be powering through The Legacy of Valcea, which I’m super -psyched about! From there, we’ll see where we go. That’s all the updates I’ve got for now, my friends. Until next time, stay safe and enjoy life! ~Alexander

Will always be well fed.

It’s been about three months since I’ve left an update on my writing, but to be honest I’ve had a lot going on in my life that has kept me from writing as much as I’d like. Between not getting enough sleep to analyzing my position on each of my projects to simply spreading myself too thin by working on too many things, I just fizzled out. The Rebirth I’m happy to say, however, that I’m about ready to resume writing with a fury. I have a series I’ve been working on under another name for which I’ve released the first book (in 2016) and I’m probably 80% done with the second book. Unfortunately, I got stuck because I didn’t like some of the critical elements in it. Because of that I opted instead to start a new project, the world of Ansparia, which I’ve been sharing with you all. After speaking with my wife, I think I’ve decided to restructure book two in my original series and rewrite it, but that will likely be put on hold until I finish the Renegade Ocarinist – which brings me to speak a little bit about my process for writing the Renegade Ocarinist. The Methodology Normally when I write, I plot it all out. I’ve got an extensive outline that acts as a backbone for my story. I allow myself to deviate from it to provide fluidity to my writing but I always come back to it to get back on track. With the Renegade Ocarinist, I decided to come up with a loose storyline and make it up as I go. “Plantsing” as it’s known as among many in the writing community; Half planning and half pantsing (writing from the seat of your pants). It’s been a good experience for the most part but I find it’s taking me longer to write because, SQUIRREL! I’ve got about the word count for the complete novel but I’m only about 40% through the storyline, so I need to reassess this project and see if I want to outline the entire thing and keep only that which falls in line with the outline (plus a reasonable amount of leeway), just make an outline for the remainder of the story and trim this first part down during editing, or just press ahead as I am and have a lot more to edit out later. The Demise I’ve grown tired of writing the serial micro fiction about Zamy and Landric and haven’t really had a lot of others show any interest so I think I’ll try writing a little more and wrapping them up in the next couple weeks. I might do other micro fiction but I don’t know if I want to do an ongoing series like I have been. Eventually I’d like to resume writing serial micro fiction but for now I need to focus on my novels. The Discouragement I did release an ebook of poetry and songs from my world of Ansparia but I hate how the formatting turned out – and I’m having trouble seeing any changes I’ve made because apparently my kindle app won’t give me the latest version, even though I’ve followed all the suggestions about updating my data. Incidentally, the KDP previewer does NOT show me what the book looks like on my iPhone so I’m currently at a bit of a loss. The Horizon As a recap and list of action points going forward, this is what is on the horizon for my writing. Item one, I’ll be wrapping up Zamy and Landric and that will bring an end to my serial micro fiction. I may write some micro fiction still, but probably not serial for quite some time. Item two, I’d like to get the formatting on my poetry book set and announce its release. Item three, I need to restructure the remainder of The Renegade Ocarinist and get it back on track so I can continue writing it to completion. Item four, I need to do the same for book two of my previous series. Anyway, I’ll be a bit more active again and will resume my writing updates (even if not weekly). Until next time, stay safe and enjoy life! ~Alexander

The Methodology

Normally when I write, I plot it all out.

The Demise

I’ve grown tired of writing the serial micro fiction about Zamy and Landric and haven’t really had a lot of others show any interest so I think I’ll try writing a little more and wrapping them up in the next couple weeks. I might do other micro fiction but I don’t know if I want to do an ongoing series like I have been. Eventually I’d like to resume writing serial micro fiction but for now I need to focus on my novels.

The Discouragement

I did release an ebook of poetry and songs from my world of Ansparia but I hate how the formatting turned out – and I’m having trouble seeing any changes I’ve made because apparently my kindle app won’t give me the latest version, even though I’ve followed all the suggestions about updating my data. Incidentally, the KDP previewer does NOT show me what the book looks like on my iPhone so I’m currently at a bit of a loss.

The Horizon

As a recap and list of action points going forward, this is what is on the horizon for my writing.
